This is a pre-launch version of these terms, used while LehgoRide is being tested. It will be revised before LehgoRide opens to the public, and you will be asked to agree to the new version.
1. Our relationship
LehgoRide is an app that connects riders with drivers in Liberia. You drive as an independent contractor, not as our employee. You choose when and whether to work, you supply your own vehicle, you are free to work for others, and you are paid for the trips you complete. Each ride is an arrangement between you and your rider. We run the platform that brings you together, sets the fare and keeps the records.
2. Becoming a driver
- You must be 18 or over.
- You must hold a valid Liberian driving licence and give us your national ID, a proof of address, a photograph of yourself, and your vehicle's details, photograph and registration.
- Our team reviews your application before you can take trips. We may ask you to update a document, and we may decline an application.
- Keep your documents current. You cannot go online while any document we hold for you has expired: your licence, national ID or police clearance, or the registration, insurance or roadworthiness certificate of the vehicle you drive. If one expires while you are online, you are taken offline after your current trip. We remind you 30 days and 7 days before a document expires, and on the day. Upload the new one in the app, and you can drive again once our team has checked it.
- The details you give must be true, and they must be yours.
3. Taking trips
- Trips are offered to one driver at a time. You have a short time to accept, and you may decline.
- You may only take a trip that was offered to you.
- Before you set off, ask the rider for their ride code. It confirms you have the right passenger.
- While you are online, your location is shared with LehgoRide so that trips can find you and riders can see you coming. Going offline stops it.
- Treat every rider with respect. Refusing, overcharging or mistreating a rider is not allowed.
4. Fares and earnings
- Fares are set by LehgoRide and calculated by our servers. Never ask a rider for more than the fare shown.
- LehgoRide keeps a commission on each completed fare. Your share goes to your LehgoRide wallet.
- Waiting. Once you say in the app that you have arrived, the rider has a few minutes to come out, free (5 minutes today). After that, every minute you wait, or part of one, is charged to the rider at the waiting rate for the ride type and added to the fare when the ride starts, so you are paid your share of it like the rest of the fare. Say you have arrived only when you are at the pickup.
- On a cash trip you collect the whole fare, so the commission on it is recorded as owed to LehgoRide. It is taken from your next wallet or mobile money trip, or you can pay it to LehgoRide by mobile money or in cash at our office. Our staff record the payment and you are told what you still owe. If the commission you owe passes a limit, you cannot go online until you settle it; the app warns you before that happens.
- When a cash trip ends, the app asks whether you received the cash. If you answer that you were not paid, the fare becomes the rider's debt and you owe no commission on it. If you take another trip without answering, the fare is recorded as received and the commission on it is owed.
- If a rider ends a trip early, the full fare is charged, and the app asks you whether they paid.
5. Ratings and conduct
Riders rate their trips, and you rate your riders. We may block an account where there are good grounds, such as unsafe driving, abusing a rider, fraud, or false documents. A block is recorded with the reason and the person who decided it, and you will be told the reason.
6. Stopping
You can stop driving at any time, and you can delete your account from Settings in the app.
7. Responsibility
LehgoRide is responsible for running the platform honestly: pricing trips correctly, offering trips fairly, keeping accurate records, and paying you your share. Insurance, and what each party is responsible for if something goes wrong during a ride, will be set out here before public launch.
8. Your information
How we collect, use and protect your information, including your documents and your location while online, is explained in our privacy policy, which you can read in the app.
9. Changes to these terms
We will tell you when these terms change. If a change affects what you are agreeing to, the app will ask you to agree again before you carry on.
10. The law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Liberia.
